The Animal Chiropractic training Fenella has received incorporates chiropractic principles and techniques with osteopathic principles and techniques, coupled with in-depth studies in veterinary neurology, pathology, physiology, anatomy and diagnostic techniques
Fenella is registered with the General Chiropractic Council (UK) and is a professional member of the Australian Veterinary Chiropractic Association.
Fenella graduated in 2005 from the two-year postgraduate course offered by RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia to gain the qualification of Graduate Diploma in Animal Chiropractic. The course has a comprehensive curriculum and is at the forefront of this area in the world
A pre-requisite for entry to the course is registration with a Chiropractic, Veterinary or Osteopathic Board. As a result of the collaboration of the three professions, the care provided by it's members incorporates Chiropractic & Osteopathic techniques specifically adapted for animal application, accompanied by sound Veterinary principles
IN 2002, Fenella completed five years of Human Chiropractic study to gain her under-graduate qualification from the University of Wales, UK, at McTimoney College of Chiropractic. Previous to this, she gained Human Sports Therapy qualifications certified by the International Institute of Sports Therapy (IIST), Gloucestershire University
After completing her A levels she spent a period of time observing and assisting at a variety of veterinary practices in Gloucestershire, UK
During three years with Sarah Stafford, a chartered animal physiotherapist (Category A, ACPAT registered UK), Fenella began developing the specialist techniques required when treating all types of animals and therapeutic applications of ultrasound for musculoskeletal injuries. She gained the BHSII qualification, and certificates in Equine Anatomy, Equine Physiology, Equine Sports Massage and Veterinary Nursing
She has since undertaken study & research at the premier academic institutions for today's animal practitioners. Currently Fenella is formulating a thesis for submission to the Masters of Animal Chiropractic Science from RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia. In addition to this she is studying to receive the qualification of Post-Graduate Diploma in Health Sciences, endorsing in Musculoskeletal Management at the University of Otago
Fenella ran a successful human & animal clinic in the UK, and has been involved with animals throughout her life, growing up on a beef cattle farm. Fenella has found distinct correlations with the biomechanical functioning in horses and their riders, and aims to correct problems in horse and rider combinations
Fenella has ridden & competed horses from an early age. She has featured in affiliated Dressage, Showing, Show jumping, Polo and Horse trials. In NZ she rides & competes her own horses Paddy’s Irish and Our Sunny Jim
Fenella has played a substantial role in rehabilitation regimes for race horses who have suffered accidents on the track or in the paddock, as well as providing regular maintenance and support for racing horses
She has experience treating a wide variety of domestic animals as well as a range of other "professional" small animals. These include racing greyhounds, agility, police, border control, agility, show & obedience dogs, as well as important household friends such as cats
Fenella possesses a unique combination of therapeutic skills based on thorough and highly-regarded training principles from renowned institutions in this field
She regularly delivers lecture demonstrations relating to the work of CEAT to a range of groups throughout New Zealand, including the Pony Club, Young Farmers and Canine Agility & Training Clubs. Fenella particularly enjoys this important aspect of her work
Fenella is the principal practitioner of CEAT NZ and is always available to discuss
with clients the specific treatments and rehabilitative services which we use
